This work explores the ethereal nature of an idea or memory.

When you first start painting, it's commonly taught to avoid glass as a subject until you have a grasp on the fundamentals. I resisted this at the time (to my own peril) but it's good advice, as glass is complex. You're depicting not the thing itself, only the melting light and colour it reflects.

I've long been fascinated by the way light moves through water and glass, drawn to its sense of formlessness and change. The combination has a tenuous, precious feel to it, one that represents how I imagine the energy of our thoughts to flow.

It contains movement and mystery, a reminder of the strange wonder of our world.
