This work explores the quiet space that moments of presence open within our days.

It depicts the altar that sits by me as I work. A candle, a stick of palo santo, a glass paperweight and whatever greenery I can find. It marks the threshold from daily life into a place where my attention is only required for what’s in front of me.

In the process, I was searching for balance between meticulous detail and fluid expression. To ground attention in the candle’s movement, as if it were truly burning. While the glass’s swirling light offers an unknown, hypnotic quality, as if you were gazing out over open water.
